Life intrudes

So sorry for the non-participation, but I have a packed summer schedule and I've just changed jobs. My free time is no more. I'll stop by to the places that made me laugh when I can, but as far as my career in blogging is considered, I'm a has-been (or never was). Take care y'all!!

Life is like Jane Austen

I am back from a day of sailing and drinking, and while it was highly entertaining and fun, a couple of things have stood out for me. First off, my friend that tried to set me up with an attorney, now likes said attorney, and I truly believe that he likes her. I kept telling her that it was like the book "Emma" by Jane Austen (or the movie Clueless), where the guy accepts whatever from Emma/Alicia Silverstone because it's coming from her, not because he necessarily likes the other person. My friend laughed at me when I gave her my theory, but now I see that I'm somewhat right. I can have fun regardless of where ever or whomever I'm with, but I just noticed that this guy kept trying to bring my friend up in conversation where she normally wouldn't be mentioned, and later, at the bar, only talked to her and stayed by her side. Enough already! Just ask the damn girl out and get it over with! Sheesh! I'm almost tempted to be like, "Hey buddy, she's interested, you're interested. What are you going to do about it?" But that sounds too much like interfering, so I'll butt out.

On the plus side, I saw a friend from highschool that is now across the country in VA, and met a new friend that lives in Portland, OR. She's like my long-lost Bosnian sister: we like to drink and party, she likes a lot of the same things I do, she's highly educated, she played a collegiate sport, and she's pretty tall too. We even got our drinks bought for us by a hopeful Asian, which was pretty nice for a change. I will definitely have to catch up with her and hang out more often. So, now that's 0340 in the morning, and I'm feasting on Filipino food from a BBQ, I'm going to sign off. The only moral of today's blog is this: life imitates art, at least in this case in the form of fiction. Who knew that knowing Jane Austen would finally come in handy???

for what it's worth, I've surpassed the 1,000 mark. Woo hoo!! Too bad it's too late to celebrate again, (sigh) oh well. Thanks to all of you (the total 5 or 6, yeah!) that stop by!

I am pooped

I had to work last night after coming in from Houston, and I am just pooped. I had grand plans to work out, do my hair, and go visit a friend of mine, but I don't think any of that's going to happen now. That's the only draw back to flying, is how much it takes out of you. It wasn't even like the time change was huge (+2 hours) but I feel like I spent all day on the plane or at an airport. Yuck. The only bright side, if one can call it that, is that I have my first day of class for my summer sesison tomorrow, so I only work a partial shift. Dang, this post is really boring. It's not like they're usually full of fun and wit, but this one really sucks. Sorry. I'll try better next time!

Recollections of a vacation

To those of you that visit Renee's blog and saw the madness of her birthday pictures, I feel there may be some explanations in order.

1. First off, I was NOT sitting on the concrete floor of a parking garage. Ms. Renee had used her powers of bitchcraftery to make me stumble and fall back. She laughed while I skinned my ankle!! Signs of true bitchcraft!

2. I am not really as drunk as I appear. The camera acts like a side-view mirror and distorts images. Honest.

3. Unfortunately, there are no pictures of what happened after we left downtown, which is both good and bad, because there would be one of Renee passed out on a friend's bed, and me stumbling to climb up there with her.

So, now that the explanations are done with, I think I should share what I learned this weekend.

1. It's not good to leave your debit card at a bar

2. It's not good to fall asleep in a certain individual's home, otherwise you may just end up being "massaged" (i.e. groped) for a long time

3. Trying to meet up with 3 other black people is more of a headache than it's worth

4. EVERYONE in the world needs to see the movie "Crash" (excellent, excellent I tell you!)

5. Houston really is a fun place to live/visit, especially if your friends are neat people!

Goin' to TX

I've promised myself three things for my visit to the Lone Star State:

1. I will remember to buy gifts for the peeps back home

2. I will remember to make random drunken phone calls to the peeps back home

3. I will remember that I came for Renee's birthday and will not pass out in random places

If I can manage those three things, I think it will be a good vacation!

And now I'll leave you with some stupid things that people will do:

**"In public restrooms I discard the first 4 feet of toilet paper just in case it touched the floor and got rolled back up."

"I eat my cereal dry and have the milk on the side because I don't like to mix things. I swallow some cereal and then take a swig of milk to wash it down. Sometimes I use Coca-Cola."

"When I'm done ironing, not only do I unplug the iron, I take it a step further. I put the hot iron in the refrigerator to make sure that it doesn't ignite anything and cause a fire. But then-- this is how wacky it gets-- I worry that I may melt a plastic container in there so I keep checking."****

Just think, whatever your quirk, you're probably not alone!

It's Official!

Two things:

1. I am officially on my vacation, as I worked my last shift today and won't have to go back for a FULL week!

2. I passed all of my classes (2 A's, 1 B+) with a cum. GPA of 3.76. So thankful that this isn't a repeat of freshman year!

3. (tie) The Sonics won and will be advancing to the 2nd round of the playoffs-- I don't really care that much, but I find one of their players incredibly hot and beautiful. Bonus points if anyone can guess who it is! (to help some of you out, he is from a country that no longer exists....does that help??)
